TRAILER CONTEST - lights, camera, action! Theatre is an art form like no other with the power to impact a live audience in real time. Although theatre and film are very different, many of their storytelling elements go hand in hand. This contest challenges artists’ versatility by thinking outside the box. Schools are asked to create a trailer or a preview video for their stage production. These videos will be used to promote each show at the provincial festival on monitors and online. The best two trailers will be selected by the provincial hosting team and winners will be rewarded with a special prize!

Your trailer may include:

show footage (filmed from audience or onstage), photos, narration, onscreen text, interviews, music, sound effects, behind-the-scenes content... 
 

JUDGING CRITERIA

• meets all requirements (see below)

• structure of trailer and ability to tell a story              [10 points]

• creativity and adaptation for screen                          [10 points]

• camera angles, movement, and shot types              [5 points]

• audio (quality, effects, music)                                     [5 points] 
 

REQUIREMENT & RULES

• entire work must be between 1 - 3 minutes 

• must include the school’s name and the show’s title (onscreen text or spoken)

• you may use ONE copyrighted song under the law of fair use. (???)

• you may not use any footage or photos from any third parties without consent.

• upload your completed trailer to Youtube or Vimeo.
